🌞 A Solar System for Your Balcony
Solar energy is a great source of renewable energy. Residents across the world are installing solar panels on their roofs.
But what if you don’t have a rooftop to install the panels? What if you live in an apartment with a balcony? Can you still install solar in that case?
Well, solar balconies are becoming a thing, in countries like Germany.
It’s a simple setup that contains one or two panels plugged into an electricity socket.
Unlike rooftop installations, you can buy the kit online, and you don’t even need an electrician to set it up.
While they are not as efficient as rooftop solars, producing only 10% of the energy of residential rooftop systems, they provide an opportunity for people to use solar who weren't able to before.
Apart from Germany, which is taking the lead in solar balconies, other countries such as Austria, France, Italy, Poland, and Luxembourg are also taking steps to encourage that.

✨ Startup of the Week: Myplan8
You don’t need to have a climate job to help the planet. Your present job can be a climate job.
Conundrums…Every day, we make various lifestyle choices, some of which are related to our workplace. These include commuting to work and the food we consume in the office, which contributes to carbon emissions.
Emission impossible…For an organization, these are employee-linked emissions. Although these are indirectly related to the organization, they are still part of the organization’s emissions. As an employee, you can help reduce these emissions.
Myplan8 has developed a gamified experience to help employees reduce their emissions. This tool, built on our proprietary and patented Green Score® technology, allows employees to contribute to their employers' sustainability goals in a fun and engaging way.
Here’s how it works:
It starts with employees downloading the Myplan8 app.
The app measures an employee’s environmental footprint based on lifestyle categories.
There are categories such as water usage, energy usage, digital usage food habits, and travel patterns.
Gamified green…The app calculates your annual spending across these categories and generates a Green Score®. A higher score indicates a more planet-friendly lifestyle. The app also provides suggestions for improving your score, such as through pledges, carbon credits, and engagement with sustainable brands. Employers, who receive this data, can use it to track, report, and reduce their emissions.
